Outsourcing (Infogérance)

IT outsourcing (infogérance) is the service resulting from the integration of a multitude of elementary services, which allow a client's information system to be transferred or outsourced in whole or in part to a third-party IT provider, according to a predefined contract term, for the purpose of performing maintenance and ensuring its management. IT outsourcing has many advocates for several reasons: +Staff Reduction: The major advantage is a reduction in human resources. Internal management of an IT fleet requires a specific team organized around users who will also be responsible for managing workstations. This team must act as a supplier for the entire company, which can only be done in large companies. +Budget Reduction: For SMEs that cannot finance such an organization, the economic context requires reduced operating costs and lower costs for certain tasks. Through outsourcing, IT costs and their variants are reduced: fewer fixed assets, conversion of fixed costs into variable costs, reduced operating costs. +Guarantee Standard: Some companies require a very strict level of confidentiality. Thus, certain basic principles must be respected: verify and require that application developments placed under outsourcing be designed using major market standards. The outsourcing contract must take these constraints into account and provide a clear division of responsibilities. The external provider will perform the tasks defined in the specifications for standard configurations. +Responsibility Refocusing: The company subcontracts the operation of certain parts of the information system to refocus on its "core business", by developing new activities and/or rationalizing existing activities. The company gains better control over technological evolution, quality, and information system productivity. On the provider side, it can make modifications and corrections to anomalies noted or anticipated in time, apply necessary updates and maintenance, maintain or modernize applications, research sustainable or transitional solutions with the simple goal of keeping the information system in good condition.
